After a splendid career spanning thirty years and exploring a variety
of styles, Al Di Meola still ranks among the most popular guitar-
masters of jazz and jazz-rock. On stage with "Speak A Volcano" in
Leverkusen in November 2006, and surrounded by a band including his
old companion and superb percussionist Gumbi Ortiz, Al Di Meola
rediscovered after almost 20 years of acoustic guitar his love of the
electric guitar without denying newer influences. The result is a
balancing act between volcanic electronic ecstasy and emotionally
moving sound excursions, between fervent improvisations and intimate
conversations, including many of his original compositions, and five
Piazzolla tunes. So here, on his first electric DVD, Al Di Meola
shows up with his full range of skills. It should be difficult to
resist the intensity and the heat of his playing.
"In Conversation with Al Di Meola" - Al talks in a very charming way
about the development of his career, his influences, electric vs.
acoustic guitar and why he rediscovered his love of the electric guitar.
"Al's Guitar Tips" - a fascinating demonstration of Al's exceptional
style of guitar playing.

the new albums:
"Consequence of Chaos"
"The new cd has Chick Corea, Steve Gadd, John Pattitucci, Barry Miles and the guys in my group, Ernie-drums, Mario-keys, Gumbi-perc, and Victor Miranda on basses from Cuba.
I composed all 15 pieces in its entirety. It's a major return to my playing solid body electric guitar with some acoustic tracks mixed in. This is a modern approach in my compositional quest to integrate the newest technology with spirited playing. The result is a cd that I consider one of my all time best to date!
We will be supporting the cd when it will be released during the 3rd week of Sept 06 by Telarc in the states and Inakustik in Germany. Look for us on tour and check out the new cd Consequence of Chaos!"

"Diabolic Inventions and Seduction for Solo Guitar, Volume I, Music of Astor Piazzolla"
di·a·bol·ic 1.devilish; fiendish; outrageously wicked
"My personal desire for this music in this solo guitar context was to bring my own vision by incorporating a syncopated rhythm concept unlike its original written conception.
My friendship with Astor proved to be a turning point in my life. He encouraged me to bring to his music my own voice and expression.
Through our many conversations, he described his music as "diabolic", referring to the radical departure from the standard Tango music of the past. For that, he faced adverse reaction due to its mix of contemporary musical elements, while breaking all the rules and radically advancing this music into the future.
Like most musical innovators, he faced periods of intense criticism. After a lengthy period of exile, the tango purists finally accepted and heralded Astor's depth of work and he returned to Argentina as a hero."
